Named after the Ancestors Borun (the pelican) and Tuk (the musk duck), whose journey created the Gunaikurnai people, the Borun and Tuk Gallery honours the deep and ongoing connections between Country, culture, and community. Every artwork, every story shared here, is part of an active continuum which expresses cultural sovereignty in the present.

The Borun & Tuk Gallery is a space where Gunaikurnai stories, voices, and cultural practices are centred. This Gallery is not a sealed archive but a living, evolving relationship between the Gallery and the artists of Gunaikurnai Country.

A highlight in the Borun and Tuk Gallery this season is a group of six works by Aboriginal artist Ronald Bull (1942–1979), an important figure in the history of Aboriginal art in south-eastern Australia. The works were generously donated by Mark and Leanne Barson through the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program in 2023.
