Join the artist and author to celebrate the launch of this timely publication detailing the life and work of Ann Greenwood in two parts—the weaver, 1965–1998 and the embroider, 1998–2004.
For the past two years, Gippsland Art Gallery’s curator Dr Louisa Waters has worked intimately with Ann Greenwood to tell this significant story. A story that dissolved the division between craft and art, challenged the notion of woman and her prescribed work, and contributed to the discourse of abstraction and the symbolic as it is understood through art. Perhaps more significantly however, is the exploration of art as a medium which can delve beneath the surface of the human condition’s psyche, and further touch on the transcendental and divine.
Followed by morning tea with the Friends of the Gallery.
